Once upon a time, there was a boy and his blog. At first, the boy loved his blog, and played with it all the time, sometimes even multiple times a day. But as the boy grew older, he found other things to play with. He started playing with the blog less and less, until one day, he couldn't remember the last time he had even seen the blog, much less interacted with it.
As it turns out, that was almost three years ago. (I just checked). Writing this, I remember why I started my old blog in the first place - to have purpose. Recent events in my life have caused me to seek this again, and again I find myself turning to writing to find it.
Let's call it a mulligan. Or maybe a re-do. Even better, let's call it repentance. That's what it feels like. A return, a reunion, a homecoming. Sitting here doing this, I am not sure why I ever stopped. I can point the finger at many things: busyness, boredom, lack of inspiration. But above all, knowing me, it was most likely just plain lack of dedication.
I've recently started trying to incorporate more simple disciplines in my life (or in some cases, re-incorporate). Writing, I intend, will be one of them.
So for now, hello again. Looking forward to sharing this journey together.
P.S. If you're curious at all, the old blog is found at inputoutputmodule.wordpress.com. There are a few home runs there, a few absolute whiffs, and a ton of pretty well hit balls that still ended up as flyouts.
